Ex-scholars Chivas, Apple, Sheng, Bea and Christian were interviewed live on Uberture today. Majority of the former Acadremians felt that Laarni was deserving of the Grand Star Dreamer title. If Bugoy was their 2nd placer, Van was their bet on the third spot.

When asked who among the Top 6 was a food enthusiast, almost all agreed on Miguel. Cris was a favorite choice with the question on who among them smelled the best.

The ex-scholars got all giddy when asked about their crushes in the Academy. Bea and Chivas remained loyal to their partners. While Christian crushed on Laarni, Sheng was attracted to Van. Apple had the most shocking revelation when she confessed that she liked Bugoy for his personality.

Also on the show this afternoon was the Top 6â rehearsals with Teacher Kitchy. The Voice Mentor taught the dreamers how to control their voices. Laarni seemed to have a difficult time doing so while Liezel was able to sing a line in one breath. Miguel on the other hand appeared off-key and needed sufficient supply of air. Would the scholars be able to apply these last minute techniques before the Grand Dream Night? Catch this story plus Cris and Sen reunion later on the primetime edition of Pinoy Dream Academy Season 2!

bea_02 Bea Muñoz was expelled from Pinoy Dream Academy season 2 after receiving 25.15% of the votes against her boyfriend Miguel Mendoza’s 74.85%

Bea is the fifth scholar to exit the show after Chivas, Ross, Jet and Sheng.

For the Fifth Gala Night, also known as “sensual” night, four scholars fell short of being “hot” on stage and they are Miguel Mendoza, Christian Alvear, Bunny Malunda, etc..

Miguel was saved by the Dream Mentors. We shall find out tomorrow who will be saved by the scholars leaving another pair on the chopping block.

One thing that Bea, Christian, and Apple, the latest expelled Scholars of Pinoy Dream Academy Season 2, have in common is that a lot of intrigues have been thrown at them while they were still inside the Academy. Now that they are back in the real world, they are more than ready to clear all the issues.

Bea easily got the attention of PDA viewers with her strong presence on screen. Some think that the girl from Alabang is highly opinionated and pro-active while others think she’s bossy and snobbish. The perception might have been borne by her tiff with Laarni in their first few weeks inside the Academy.

What does she have to say about this?

“I am misjudged to be unfriendly because of the way I look but I’m really friendly. I am used to dealing with people from all walks of life and I am not the type who judge people based on where they come from,” she says.

What about the misunderstandings she had with Laarni?

“It was a matter of adjusting. I must admit that it wasn’t easy to get used to her but I can honestly say that I like her for who she is. It just took a while for me to adjust but when I finally did, it was easier to reach out,” Bea says matter-of-factly. She also adds that from the very start, she has utmost respect for Laarni and her talent.

What’s the status of her relationship with Miguel?

“Miguel and I are in an open relationship, which means that we have each other for support. What we have is both romantic and platonic because we acknowledge the fact that we can’t commit [to each other] full-time because we still have dreams to chase,” she explains.

Christian made quite an impression on the viewers for his largely undeveloped talent. Besides proving himself, the 25-year-old Hero channel dubbing talent also had to cope with several issues inside the Academy. One of these was the departure of his two closest friends, Ross and Jet.

How did he feel when Ross and Jet left?

“I was really scared at first because everybody had a group inside the Academy. I instantly clicked with Ross and Jet because we were the oldest Scholars, so when they decided to drop out, I found myself alone. I was hesitant to hang out with the other Scholars because I was afraid that they’d find it intrusive but they were the ones who welcomed me with open arms. I was sad that my two closest friends left the Academy but the other Scholars made it easier for me,” he explains.

Christian was also one of the Scholars who had a fight with Laarni. The two had a misunderstanding while preparing for an assignment for movie/TV director Jose Javier Reyes, who is a resident mentor.

How did he settle the problem with Laarni?

“I’m not the type to bear grudges. After our misunderstanding, I reached out to Laarni and we actually got really close. She became one of my best friends inside the Academy and while I was still there, I confided in her,” he intimates.

Among the three, Apple is the one who had the most intrigues thrown at her. The 19-year-old Cebuana proved that she can be friends with everybody but some questioned her intentions, especially about Miguel.

What does she have to say to the people who think she is trying to steal Miguel from Bea?

“Miguel and I are just friends and Bea is my Scholar best friend. The three of us have always been tight and after Bea left, Miguel and I just carried on with the friendship that we have,” she explains.

Did she get the chance to talk things out with Bea?

“Actually, I was with Bea and her family the day after I was expelled. For us, there’s nothing to talk about because we know the real score. Miguel and I are just friends and Bea knows that,” she insists.

How about the baby talk that some viewers find irritating?

“I baby talk because Mommy Bunny finds it funny. She misses Daddy Chivas and Jether so much and whenever I baby talked, she was amused and temporarily forgot about her longing for her family. I just wanted to help Mommy Bunny deal with being away from her family,” she says.

bea_munoz_09 MANILA, Philippines - Yes, there’s life after “Pinoy Dream Academy.” In an exclusive e-mail interview, Randy Dellosa, guidance counselor and resident psychologist on the ABS-CBN reality talent search told Inquirer Entertainment that the show’s expelled contestants are “doing well, so far.”

Dellosa compared the scholars’ stint on the show to “being thrown into the fire of rigorous training and fierce competition.” He explained, “It’s only in experiencing this heat... that they can grow as seasoned performers.” PDA, he pointed out, “is a journey of self-discovery and personal growth” for the contestants.

Expelled scholars Christian Alvear, Apple Abarquez, Bea Muñoz and Bunny Malunda seem to have bounced back, said the counselor. (All show castoffs get a sit-down session with Dellosa right after.) “Bunny is happy to be reunited with her family,” Dellosa said. “She’s also looking forward to her surgery (to remove a cyst in her vocal cord) and is thinking of becoming a model.”

Both Abarquez and Muñoz, Dellosa reported, are gung-ho about pursuing their show biz careers. “They are excited about the offers.” Alvear is determined to finish college, Dellosa said. “He has gained a wealth of knowledge that he now applies to his work as dubber for radio and TV shows.” Alvear told the Inquirer in a sit-down interview that he does voice work for animated shows like “Ninja Boy Rantaro,” “Sgt. Keroro” and “Cyborg 009.” Alvear said his session with Dellosa allowed him to thresh out several personal issues, among them the discrimination he experiences as a midget and his troubled relationship with his alcoholic father.

“Never akong nagtanim ng sama ng loob [I never kept ill feelings],” Alvear said. For her part, Abarquez said she thoroughly enjoyed her session with Dellosa. “He made me see the total picture,” Abarquez related. “I was glad to hear him say I’ve remained sane in spite of everything.” She admitted that she was completely unprepared for the reality show format. Being on-cam (and subject to public scrutiny 24/7) daunted her.

“It took a lot of adjustments,” Abarquez conceded. “In the first week, it was as if I was floating.” “It was nerve-wracking,” Muñoz agreed. “At first, I was afraid that I couldn’t be myself. But, according to Dr. Randy, I remained true throughout my stay. In any case, the word plastic isn’t in my vocabulary.”

Dellosa summed up the Dreamers’ journey, thus: “Obviously, some scholars grow more slowly and may need more psychological help than others. The important thing to remember is that everyone is a ‘work in progress’ and that we all have our own psychological blocks, secret hurts and inner struggles to overcome.”

On Saturday, Iñaki Ting joined Abarquez, Muñoz, Alvear and Malunda in the roster of castoffs; honorary scholar Poy Palma also left because her task on the show (“to raise the bar of the performances,” according to the PDA web site) was done.

Deserving siya, and nakuha niya po ang tamang boses and we all learned how to sing properly there and we found our own style of singing. So, I really think that he deserves to be in the Top Four," pahayag ni Bea sa ibinigay na presscon ng ABS-CBN para sa mga expelled scholars ng PDA. "Ah, wala pong kinalaman. Kasi lahat po kami we strive hard. We strive hard for the audition. Lahat po kami pumila. We all did our exams well. We all learned our lessons well. So, we are all deserving." "Ang natutunan ko po is to make the disadvantages nga po into an advantage."

THROAT CYST. Same as Bunny po. I've a cyst kaya ako palaging paos and I believe na ang pagiging paos is one way of singing. Kung si Mariah Carey nga paos ang boses at sumikat. So, isa po yung style. "Disadvantage na naalis ako, advantage din po siya dahil magiging headstart for me. So, nakaka-learn na akong kumanta at sumayaw at umarte." Totoo bang paglabas ni Bea ng PDA ay agad na dinala siya sa isang psychiatrist?

"Yes po. Ah, sabi po ng psychologist na I'm very true to myself. Kasi po hindi ako isang plastic na tao. I believe na kung ayaw ko yung tao, okey. I'll give the person a chance. Ang pagiging plastic po it's not in my vocabulary and he knows that because I was very open to other experiences there. And alam ninyo po na the way I was acting inside and the was I was acting outside, pareho lang po."

NOT FOR SINGING. Well, for me po kasi I really learned. The thing is pagdating ng Saturday... so, kanta ako ng Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday. Pagdating ng Sabado sumasakit na po ang lalamunan ko because I really tried." Na-overpractice siya?

"Parang ganun po because nga may cyst ako. Yung health ng throat ko is not as healthy as others na, mag-practice ako ng sobrang tagal napapaos na po. That's why I always have to drink liquid. So, feeling ko po hindi lang nila nakita. Pero my mentors know how much I've learned and changed."

"Ah, actually po nung sinabi niya na singing is not for me, it made me think na maybe I'm into something else. But also in the same industry. So, hindi naman dahil hindi ako magaling kumanta, hindi na ako puwedeng kumanta forever. I can also go into hosting or acting, or deejaying, but also sing because I like singing. ‘Tsaka for me yung sinasabi nila against me it will challenge me more to strive harder."

VOTES. "My family actually didn't want to vote.

Honestly po, my family didn't want to vote. They felt na it should depend on the masses. They said that if I wanted it, I have to strive hard for it, I have to strive hard for the vote that I will get. Hindi po dahil kaya namin or sa boto nila, doon ako mag-i-stay kasi it would be unfair to the others. So, they wanted to be fair." Ano ang reaksyon ng parents niya noong pinaalis siya sa PDA? "Well, masaya po sila na at least kasama na po nila ako. Sad dahil malapit na po ako sa dream ko, di ba? ‘Tapos naputol po. So, yun po."

Payag ba sila na mag-artista siya? "Nung una po ayaw po nila. Pero alam po nila how much I love it." At saka maski inaaway niya ako, alam ko, he's just doing that because of his dream."

Three-and-a half years nang magkarelasyon nina Bea at Miguel.

WHO'S GAY? "Uhm...kasi Miguel and I started as best friends. ‘ Tapos nung una, dapat hindi kami magiging on pero kasi sabi ko ang best friends pang friend lang talaga, siyempre, because I was open to him in a different way. But you know, he really strived hard at saka pina-impress po talaga ko ni Miguel. So, naging kami po."

"Hindi ko po alam kasi I wasn't able to spend that much [time]... Kasi nung lumabas na po yung issues wala na po ako sa bahay." Ano ang plano niya ngayong wala na siya sa Academy? "Ang plans ko is to strive harder and to prove to people that...kasi [some] people say that I don't deserve to be in the Academy and for me I will strive hard to prove them wrong because I was chosen for a reason," tapos ni Bea.

They commonly judge me on the way I look and the way I act po.

"Just to let go kasi eventually one of us have to go [out of the academy] and one of us have to let go."

Very humble po talaga. Kasi wala siyang training. Alam po niya ang dapat niyang gawin and madali po siyang maka-pick-up. Yung personality niya, very kind among all other scholars sa loob ng Academy. So I think Bugoy should win," pagtatapos ni Bea.

bea_munoz_08 Bea Muñoz was expelled from Pinoy Dream Academy Season 2 after receiving 25.15% of the votes against her boyfriend Miguel Mendoza’s 74.85%.

Bea is the fifth scholar to exit the show after Chivas, Ross, Jet and Sheng.

For the Fifth Gala Night, also known as “sensual” night, four scholars fell short of being “hot” on stage and they are Miguel Mendoza, Christian Alvear, Bunny Malunda and Iñaki Ting.

Miguel was saved by the Dream Mentors. We shall find out tomorrow who will be saved by the scholars leaving another pair on the chopping block.

bea_munoz_04 Bea Munoz, dubbed as The Sweet Chanteusse, is the second expelled scholar from ABS-CBN’s reality show, Pinoy Dream Academy Season 2 after getting total text votes of 25.15%

Miguel Mendoza, her boyfriend and also under probationary last week got 74.85% of the total votes. That means he was saved and will stay inside the academy.

Miguel, Inaki Ting, Bunny, and Christian are the bottom four during last night's Gala performance after getting the lowest scores. The mentors saved Miguel.

I think the scholars will save Bunny Malunda. That means the Inaki and Christian Alvear will be the probee scholars. I wish Inaki will go home next week. Just my thought. I could be wrong...

bea_munoz_02 Beatriz “Bea” Muñoz said goodbye to her co-probationary/boyfriend Miguel Mendoza and fellow scholars last July 19 on Pinoy Dream Academy Season II 5th Gala Expulsion and Probation Night when she got the lowest viewers votes. Bea is the second scholar to be expelled by the viewers text votes, first was Sheng Belmonte.  The percentage of votes was Miguel got 74.85% while Bea got 35.15% only. Other scholars who’s out of the academy already were Jet and Ross  who dropped out of the academy while Chivas was expelled by the Mentors.

The top 3 sholars were Liezel, Bugoy, and Laarni but the Star Scholar title goes to Bugoy having a grade of 8.80. This is the second time for Bugoy to become a Star Scholar of the Gala Night Performance, last week’s 4th Gala Night he tied with Liezel.

The bottom 4 sholars were Iñaki, Christian, Miguel and Bunny gathering 6.33, 6.33, 6.27, and 6.03 respectively. Miguel was saved by the Mentors while Bunny Malunda was saved by her fellow sholars. Thus, on probation scholars this week subject to viewers’ votes are Iñaki Ting and Christian Alvear. Who will be save by the viewers next week, the david of PDA Cristian or the goliath Iñaki?

Biography

  • Full Name: Beatriz Muñoz
  • Nickname: Bea, "The Sweet Chanteusse"
  • Age: 18
  • Birthdate: August 21, 1990
  • Place of Origin: Alabang, Muntinlupa City
  • Favorite Singer/ Band / Performer: Lea Salonga
The 8th dreamer to enter the academy is a 18-year-old Beatriz “Bea” Muñoz, is from Alabang. Bea is the girlfriend of another PDA shcolar Miguel Mendoza. Her favorite singer is Lea Salonga.

bea_munoz_01 Speculations about Miguel Mendoza’s being gay of Pinoy Dream Academy was clearly noticed inside the house of PDA. He was acting like a girl!

Some of the followers can’t really understand why Miguel has to lose his temper over Bea. They said, Bea doesn’t deserve all this from Miguel belittling her. It was also clear that Bea auditioned for Pinoy Dream Academy to support her boyfriend Miguel.

It all started week ago when a couple has to perform a duet number where Bea can’t follow the notes for their number. Miguel lost his temper by telling others about Bea’s incapable of doing the duet performance, she’s not even a singer he said.

What’s really caught the viewers was Miguel trying to belittle her rumored girlfriend by telling others instead of talking to her personally. Baklang bakla!

bea_03 Singing a duet should have been a walk in the park for real-life couple Bea Muñoz and Miguel Mendoza. Instead, they were criticized for their lack of “magic” and were named this week’s probationary scholars during Pinoy Dream Academy Season 2’s 4th Gala and Probation Night last night, July 12, at the PDA Concert Hall in Quezon City.

Bea and Miguel received a score of 5.06 for their rendition of Regine Velasquez’s “Araw-Gabi,” which was received coldly by resident jurors Louie Ocampo, Gerard Salonga, and this week’s guest judge Jamie Rivera.

According to Louie, their performance was safe and lacked magic as a duet. Louie also said the song failed to move him musically, a comment that mirrored Gerard’s observation of Miguel’s performance last week. However, for Gerard, it was Bea who ruined the number for singing out of tempo. The scholars sang duets this week, and the pairs received a collective grade for their performances. Bea has been the part of the bottom four since the start of the competition while it was the first time Miguel—on a steady decline since his lauded performance during the 1st Gala Night—became part of the bottom group. Both scholars are up for the vote and one of them will be expelled next Saturday.

Although Jamie thought it was obvious that Cris Pastor and Sen Nichols worked hard on their passionate performance of Tina Arena’s “Burn,” the other judges seemed to disagree. The pair received a score of 5.36, the second lowest grade this week. Cris was saved from probationary by the mentors while Sen was saved by his co-scholars.

Meanwhile, the unlikely pair of Bunny Malunda and Christian Alvear (”Ain’t No Mountain High Enough”) and Iñaki Ting and Laarni Losala (”Kung Ako Na Lang Sana”) received compliments from the judges. Although Iñaki and Laarni previously had issues with each other, Jamie said their rendition of the Bituin Escalante hit was effortless. Despite earlier comments that Bunny and Christian looked like a mother-and-daughter tandem instead of a couple, Gerard said he enjoyed the performance, despite its minor flaws. “[Your performance] needed a little bit more rehearsal but I’m willing to forget all about that because the performance was good,” he said. Louie, on the other hand, thought Van Pojas and Apple Abarquez’s “Nobody Wants to be Lonely” was musically safe but unromantic.

Liezel Garcia and Bugoy Bugayon, who performed Alicia Keys’ “If I Ain’t Got You,” received the biggest compliment of the night from Gerard. “Hanep, that was really good. Pati ‘yung kulot sabay na sabay. It was great,” he said. “‘Yung konting diction issues lang, pero if you just work on that, ok na ito.”

Bea Muñoz and Miguel Mendoza received the lowest grade of 5.06 for their rendition of Regine Velasquez’s “Araw-Gabi.” As probationary scholars, one of them will be eliminated next week during the 5th Gala Night.
